I need some answers!

Just feel free to answer whatever questions you want to.

1. Can someone who has beta blogger please tell me if there is a way to avoid having to sign in every time I want to post a blog or post a comment on someone else's blog?

2. What translation of the Bible do you read the most? (this question courtesy of preacherman's post)

3. Do you think schools ought to require to see ID of visitors or of parents taking their children out of school? (this question I'm asking because of my recent visits to Nathan's school--I'll discuss it later)

4. When it comes to clothing, are you a minimalist or an I'd-prefer-to-have-a-pair-of-pants-&-a-shirt-on-even-in-the-muggy-heat-of-summer kind of person? (this question courtesy of the comments-discussion on My Fatal Mistake post)

5. What is one way you want to better yourself or your relationship with God? (this question courtesy of Matt Dabbs' post--incidentally, I want to know if any of my Harding pals remember this guy--he was there around the same time most of us were; after my "Fatal Mistake" post, I don't think he'll be coming around here anymore!)

6. What's your biggest driving pet peeve?

7. What did you have for breakfast this morning?

8. If you could go anywhere for vacation, where would you go?

9. Are you a morning person or a night person?

10. What did you want to be when you were a child?

My biggest driving pet peeve, even though it just has to do with cars, are crooked bumper stickers. If you are going to put a big sticker on your car can't you make sure it's straight before you put it on!!!!!!!!

Hi Lisa! Here are my answers:
2. I read the NIV most, but also love The Message and the NLT (New Living).
3. Yes, I am a fan of schools checking ids. Because of the danger to schools and students. There are non-custodial parents out there who show up to schools to kidnap their own kids. This actually happened once at a school I've taught at, but fortunately the parent wasn't successful in his attempt.
4. I am not into shorts. I normally wear jeans or capris in summer. Does that answer your question?
5.I want to get better at praying before making a decision and really listening for Him.
6. I hate when people don't signal or forget to turn off the signal.
7. Fruit Loops - seriously.
8. Right now, I would give just about anything to get any in a cabin with Channing
9. I get more done at night.
10. I had lots of different "ambitions" but the most constant one was to be a mom. I got my wish!

1. Sorry, Lis, can't help you with that!
2. I mostly read NIV because I like my study Bible notes, but I really like the ESV, too.
3. Yes, to ID. Schools here in FL are much more careful, at least they try to be. Because of some law passed b/c of a child or children being kidnapped here, schools are surrounded by wire fences with gates. Visitors are required to show ID and wear visitor's badges, although I'm not sure how consistently it is enforced. Schools need to be ultra-cautious in this day and time to protect children in their care!
4. Not a minimalist, as you know. HOWEVER, moving to FL in July convinced me to wear capris as much as possible, and even long shorts in the neighborhood and, on rare occasions, to Walmart. I've been surprised, though, that Floridians are not more minimalist in their dress than in other parts of the country. If anything, they generally wear MORE clothing. And because buildings are usually so cold indoors, they often wear long sleeves and long pants even in the summer!
5. Because of the very difficult year we've just experienced, I've grown a lot closer to God through prayer journaling. As a matter of fact, I feel guilty because I don't spend as much time prayer journaling as I did when I was agonizing and pleading. I am grateful and pleased to be currently in much closer relationship with God than at any time in my past. BUT the way I want to "better" myself - I want to be more generous with my time, self, and home than I have been in the past.
6. My biggest driving pet peeve is people who don't drive the speed limit. I try to be very careful to drive the speed limit (my personal commitment to God's admonition to obey governing authorities), but I feel frustrated when stuck behind someone who is obviously NOT in any hurry (and can you guess how many of those there are in a heavily retired population area . . . and I'm TOO often in a hurry, having lived long in the northeast!).
7. No breakfast this morning.
8. Vacation - anywhere my grandkids are! But not taking that into consideration - either beach (in the off season - don't like the crowds and near nudity)or mountains. I don't care to swim, but love to sit in the umbrella shade and listen to the surf while reading or walk in the waves. And I love the beauty of the mountains and some casual hiking.
9. I think I am at heart a morning person, but since I don't get to bed when I really should, I usually awaken tired and draggy.
10. How young a child? In upper elementary school, I wanted to be an archaelogist. As a teen, I wanted to be a missionary. But more than anything, I ultimately wanted to be a wife and mother - and was blessed to be just that for more than 23 years!

1. So can't help you here...

2. Usually NIV, but I also really like the New Living Translation

3. Yes, Yes, and Yes

4. I'm with you sister, definitely a fan of clothes and not a big fan of shorts, even in the hot sun of South America! Which would definitely explain the white gringo legs :)

5. Definitely need to work on the frequency of my prayers, basically my prayer life in general.

6. South America - When I get in a taxi and tell someone where i'm going, they say that they know where it is and we end up on the other side of town. US - People who ride in the little part of the lane that's ending... when they know it's merging and try to cut in line up at the front of traffic, just get over like everyone else and wait your turn.

7. Eggs and bacon... only because Gary cooked :) usually it's coffee on the run for this mommy.

8. Anywhere with a Wal-Mart and Target... just kidding, we really enjoy the northeast in the fall, nothing prettier than all the leaves changing. And i'm not really a beach kind of girl. too sandy.

9. Night person definitely and i feel your pain on the my kids are morning people issue!

10. A teacher... and I got pretty close with a speech therapist, just like teaching one on one :)

1. Is signing in that big of a deal to you?
2. I'm reading the ESV currently for my daily reading.
3. Yes, I think that with the way our society has changed that schools are nuts for not having any security. Tabernacle schools actually locked the front doors, put a camera at the door, and made visitors ring a door bell in order to get in. I think that was a smart thing to do.
4.During the summer, I don't mind wearing shorts, a tank top, and sandals. But during cold weather I want to be adequately warm. So it depends on the weather for me.
5. Does the NT identify a single way for us to better our relationship with God? When I think about my relationship with your Mom, I doubt that one single thing would do the trick (although she may have one thing in mind). A relationship is a complex situation with a zillion different requirements and the requirements sometimes change. Micah 6:8 is a pretty good place to start, but it has three activities. In Matthew 23:23-24 Jesus tells us that there are some priorities in our relationship with God. We too often major in the minors.
6. Drivers going too slow and I can't pass them.
7. Dunkin Donuts cinnamin-raisin bagel toasted with cream cheese and medium coffee - chocolate flavored, extra cream, no sugar.
8. Israel.
9. I love the morning and night. I'm afraid of going to bed at night because I might miss something. I get up early so I don't miss anything.
10. I don't remember what I wanted to be as a child. In high school I wanted to be a rock star, a lawyer, and politician.

7. Oatmeal
8. Anywhere with an ocean and a place to dance
