Question:

What do you think about praying these words?

"Please Lord, come quickly."

Anything wrong with that, or is it a good thing to pray?

As Preacherman would say, What do you think? Share your thoughts.

Maranatha! I say we pray it and we mean it when we pray it!

I pray for Jesus to come back while my kids are small. My Grandma used to say that she hoped Jesus would come back before she died. She said she thought it would be neat! (she's right).

Thanks for contacting me regarding the survey. I hope to administer it in Feb.

I, too, sincerely pray for Jesus to come back while my kids are young.

Going back to Wade's post about prayer, Paula (or anyone), what do you think if every believer around the world, at the same moment in time, prayed those words? Would we "persuade" God to send Jesus then?

Would you like me to ask people on my blog to contact you about the survey?

I would love for everybody to pray this at the same time. Wouldn't that wonderful?!

Sadly though there are too many people like Demas who love this world. I wouldn't even be surprised if there were Christians who would be too afraid that Jesus would come back if we all prayed.

I say let's do it anyway! YOu set the date and time and I'll follow :)

I do pray it. It was too easy to pray when we were going through such a sad and rough time. But I pray it still and sincerely. But wouldn't it be neat to be alive when He returns! And I'm ready. Praying the prayer also reminds me of the need to be ready.

But I'm curious as to why you particularly want His return to occur when your children are young. My only reluctance about praying it is hope that those I love who might not truly be prepared might still change.

While they are children I don't worry too much about their souls. I worry about them growing up and falling away.

Maybe I should clarify that a bit. I do think about their souls now but it's different once they're grown...or so I'm told.

I think I understand why you would want to pray that prayer at this time. Your children are in a saved condition, and looking at the condition of this world, you don't want them to be subjected to all the evil that is going on. But, like Pat, I have loved ones who are not in a saved condition at this time, and I sincerely hope that they will listen and change before it is too late. I myself am ready for the Lord to come, or I go to Him. Nana

Lisa ... I think it's great that we can pray that. I think our focus does need to be on the after life. I remember my 5th grade son and I were talking about heaven recently and his comment was, "wouldn't it be great if our whole family died in a car crash today?" He was sincere. We need that kind of faith.

Lisa,
I used to always pray, Lord come, now that my son is spiritually struggling, I pray that God give him time to come to senses before returning. I believe that God is not willing for any to perish and neither am I. So until He comes, I pray Lord use me so that others will come to know you.
Great post.
Peace,
Neva

I often pray that, but also find myself wanting the Lord to tarry in hopes loved ones will return to the Lord.

Trey,

That is true faith. I love it! :)

I used to worry about you three when you were little. I wondered sometimes what I was doing bringing you into a world of evil but that would have been true at any time since Adam and Eve's sin. I also worried about you three when I thought about you going away to college and getting out into the world. But I also considered that I was bringing three workers for the kingdom into the world as well. I know that serving God is your choice but if you listened to our teaching and then served the Lord, we would have three more Christians in the world bringing the light of Jesus to those in darkness. I'm sure I made the right choice.

Further thoughts. Paul said that the day when Jesus returns is fixed (Acts 17:30)so I don't specifically pray about Jesus' second coming. However, I do believe that God "visits" in judgment and in deliverance (Gen.18:10,21;Ex.3:8). He will "come" to me when I need him. Sometimes my prayer is that the Lord come near when I need him to act on my behalf. Of course all these "visit" are a preview to his final visit.
